Terms of Use – Budgyo

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Budgyo application and services ("App", "we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the UK/EU) to use this App.

If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use the App with consent of a parent or legal guardian.

2. Overview of Services

Budgyo helps you manage personal budgets, track transactions, and optionally store your data in encrypted cloud storage.

When you enable cloud features, your budgeting data may be stored and processed on secure servers with encryption at rest and in transit.

3. Accounts and Cloud Data

If cloud backup/sync features require account creation, you agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Maintain the confidentiality of your credentials
• Be responsible for all activity under your account

You are responsible for choosing secure passwords and keeping them confidential.

4. Data Storage and Encryption

Your budgeting data may be stored locally on your device or, if you choose, uploaded to our cloud storage.

When cloud storage is enabled:

• Sensitive fields (e.g., descriptions, custom category names, display name, income) will be encrypted before being written to the database.
• Other fields (e.g., amounts, dates, category identifiers) may remain unencrypted to support app functionality and querying.

You consent to the storage and processing of your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for unlawful or unauthorized purposes
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
• Interfere with or disrupt the App or servers
• Transmit any damaging code or content
• Bypass any security measures

6. Subscription and Paid Features

Some features of Budgyo may require a subscription. All subscription purchases, management, renewals, and cancellations are processed through your device's app marketplace (e.g., Apple App Store or Google Play). You agree to the marketplace's terms for billing and subscriptions.

Refunds are governed by the policies of the marketplace.

7. No Financial Advice

Budgyo provides tools for budgeting and expense tracking.

The App does not provide financial, investment, legal, tax, or accounting advice. You should consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
• We are not liable for losses resulting from your use of the App
• We are not liable for data loss due to device failure, deletion, forgotten passwords, corrupted files, server issues, or user error
• We are not responsible for the actions of third-party service providers

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
